Thank you for sharing this. Sadly, few people are aware of the horrors inflicted upon Nicaragua by the ruling (and greedy) Somoza family -- thanks to the support of the USA. Many have already forgotten (or never knew) that the "sainted" Reagan violated the law in a last-ditch effort to overthrow the Sandinistas. [When Congress refused to fund the so-called "contras," whom Reagan called "freedom fighters," he tried to get the necessary money by selling arms to Iran, which was illegal (cf., Boland Amendment). This became the infamous "Iran Contra-gate" scandal, for which only Tom Clines ever served time in prison.]

Sadly, the Right-wingers now want to control textbooks and, more generally, what can or cannot be taught in schools. Orwell was truly observant when he presented "Ignorance is Strength" as one of the Party's slogans!

I wish that all the world’s leaders asked themselves one question before they did anything, “Is this going to be good for the children of the world?” If the answer is NO, then don’t do it.
