"Perón was not a Marxist, but he envisioned a third way between US capitalism and Soviet socialism, and was a clear symptom of those tensions.."

Peron was to Argentina was Huey Long was to Louisiana.

He was as corrupt as they come but not corrupt enough for US financial interests and the monetary dictatorship.

A very god article with easy and understandable language and analysis.

The only thing you left out, and to leave it out is to not understand the Bormann Network in Nazi Germany as spelled out in the Red House Document of 1943.

As Paul Manning, now a deceased but former pilot in WWII and journalist with Edward R. Murrow noted in his book, Martin Bormann in exile: Bormann had set up 750 corporations to get the third of Europe's riches out of Germany and Europe, for they knew the war was at end.

Argentina's granting of asylum to not just Marxists, and I challenge your figures put up against the fascists from all over the world that flocked to Argentina which was accomplished by Peron, but to fascists and known killers is missing from the report.

"Why Argentina Accepted Nazi War Criminals After World War II"

You can go to Bariloche, Argentina now and the language is both German and Spanish.

"It is common knowledge that Argentina was a safe haven for many Nazis after World War II. President Juan Peron was a Nazi sympathiser with close ties to other European dictators such as Mussolini, and he arranged safe passage for many high-ranking officials to come to South America in the years following the war. Many of these figures found refuge in the Patagonian city of Bariloche, and here is the untold story of how they arrived."

The death squads were aided and abetted by post-WWII fascists in Argentina and Latin America, as was the intelligence agencies for many Latin American countries.

They still are.

By leaving out the financial and political ties to Argentina on behalf of both Hitler and his aftermath, you have left out the key to understanding Argentina: The Bormann flight capital for it financed everyone from Vida to Barbie and more.

And then there is the Argentine connection for heroin that flowed into the US for decades.

Nixon broke the French Connection by arresting Ricord in Argentina.

All this is secret history, understood, but it is responsible for the development of Argentina and its use by the US.

And Peronism is still alive and well though they have split.

They are not 'leftists' what ever that means, and they never will be.

Ricord Is Convicted of Plot To Smuggle Drugs to U.S.

By Paul L. Montgomery

• Dec. 16, 1972

The New York Times Archives

.

"Auguste Joseph Ricord was convicted in Federal District Court here yesterday of conspiring to smuggle narcotics, culminating a two‐year effort by the Government to sever the so‐called “Latin‐American connection” in international heroin trafficking.

A jury of seven men and five women deliberated for two hours and 20 minutes before returning with their verdict of guilty on the single conspiracy count. Ricord, a 61‐year‐old Argentine citizen who was born in France, faces a mandatory five‐year jail term and could, get as much as 20 years.

Officials have said that Ricord's operation was responsible for half the heroin smuggled into the United States in the last five years—a total of perhaps 15 tons. In the last six weeks, the Government has announced moves against three other major rings transshipping heroin through Latin America, but Ricord's was the largest such operation."

For those wishing to plumb the depths of Argentina a bit more, take a look at Robert Parry's work.
