Israel’s education minister, Yoav Kisch, vowed in a live TV interview that "Lebanon will be annihilated". He added, "Lebanon as we know it will not exist".

Israel’s minister of diaspora affairs, Amichai Chikli, argued that Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq are not sovereign countries, and publicly called for colonizing southern Lebanon.
